Abstract

The monolithic integration of photodetectors and electronic devices has been widely investigated[1-3] because of its potential for achieving high-speed operation and compactness. When waveguide photodetectors are adopted in monolithically integrated photoreceivers[4,5], they have the facility of coupling with other waveguide-type optical devices such as planar lightwave circuits (PLCs), the potential for ultra-high-speed operation[6], and the feasibility for integration with photonic devices[7].
