Abstract

The amplification of ultrashort optical pulses in Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers (SOAs) has been the subject of considerable research interest, because the ultrafast carrier dynamics in SOAs is important for tailoring devices with applications in optical frequency conversion [1], high speed optical signal manipulation in optoelectronic integrated circuits and for understanding the high-speed modulation response of semiconductor lasers.
