Abstract

Mesh truncation in finite element vectorial modal analysis of dielectric waveguides is performed by means of layers with anisotropic permittivity and permeability tensors. The approach is very accurate, does not require iterative procedures, directly calculates many modes at the same time. The resulting matrices for the eigenvalue problem are still sparse and real.
