Low-Power Consumption Polymeric Attenuator Using a Bulk Micromachined Membrane Type Waveguide

Abstract

We demonstrated a low-power variable optical attenuator incorporating a micromachined membrane type waveguide in polymers. The measured drive power of the proposed device was -25 mW, which was reduced by -50% compared to that of the conventional one.
