Abstract

A finite-difference time-domain program has been developed specifically for the analysis of photonic-crystal lasers. Analysis of dispersive media with gain and/or loss spectrum is fully integrated with the analysis of perfectly-matched layers by using the piecewise-constant approximation for recursive-convolution integral. Owing to this new functionality, the simulator has successfully given preliminary results on the relaxation oscillation and the possibility of the distributed-feedback mode oscillation.
