Optically controlled high-speed mode-locked laser diodes

Abstract

Optical control of ultrafast mode-locked laser diodes is reported. Timing jitter reduction and synchronization of a 160 GHz passively mode-locked laser diode is successfully demonstrated by using a subharmonic-frequency optical pulse injection.
