Design and Fabrication of a Planar Coupling Structure for Photonic Band Gap Devices

Abstract

In this paper we present the design and fabrication of a planar coupling structure for photonic band gap devices. Calculations predict a coupling efficiency of greater than 90% from a multimode silicion waveguide to a singlemode photonic crystal channel. Experimental results are presented.
