Modeling of Realistic Air-Core Photonic Band-Gap Fibers

Abstract

We investigate the guided modes in the recently reported realistic low-loss air-core photonic band-gap fiber through a finite-element approach. We find that surface modes have a significant impact on fiber characterictics.
