Abstract

A novel method of ultrahigh-resolution spectroscopy has been developed by means of an optical single-sideband (SSB) modulator as an optical frequency shifter and a fiber grating laser with narrow line-width. The modulation frequency of the optical SSB modulator is electrically scanned by an RF-generator over several GHz, which sweeps the frequency of the probe light without mode hopping. The experimental result successfully showed MHz digit of resolution.
