Abstract

An improved least squares method is presented to calculate transmission and reflection spectra for periodic layers of spheres. Spherical waves are used in unit cells containing spheres. Quasi-periodic and continuity conditions are imposed in the least squares sense. The method is simple to implement, since it does not require evaluating lattice sums.
