Abstract

Recent advances in phase-matching second-order nonlinearities using Bragg reflection waveguides are discussed. The limitations on the choice of the composition of the AlxGa1−xAs layers are highlighted. Multi-layer cores are proposed and demonstrated as a novel design with relaxed constraints over the choice of the Al composition.
