Experimental Demonstration of Ultra-Low Loss Coupling into Slow Light Slotted Photonic Crystal Waveguide on Silicon Nanomembrane

Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate highly efficient coupling to a slotted photonic crystal waveguide using a mode converter and a photonic crystal impedance taper. Measurements show a −2.6dB insertion loss for coupling in/out of the slow light waveguide.
