Analysis and Characterization of Optical Nonlinearities Induced in Strained Silicon

Abstract

We carry out a theoretical analysis of strained silicon's nonlinear optical properties, and present experimental validations of our predictions. Additionally, we discuss strained silicon's applicability to such devices as electro-optic modulators and wave-mixers.
