Ultra-broadband 1×2 optical splitter based on integrated digital metamaterial

Abstract

We have experimentally demonstrated an integrated 1×2 splitter with a footprint of only 3.6×3.6 μm2. It can operate over 200 nm spectral range with the total transmission efficiency above 90%.
