Quasi-Phase Matched 2nd Order Nonlinearity In Whispering Gallery Mode Resonators: A Generalization Using Berry Phase

Abstract

We demonstrate that the additional quanta in the azimuthal selection rule for quasi-phase matching in whispering gallery resonators is caused by the Berry Phase experienced by the transverse spin angular momentum components of the modes.
