Abstract

Significant progress has recently been made in the generation of femtosecond dye-laser pulses,in particular by means of the colliding pulse technique.1 However, the occurrence often observed of a frequency chirp and the influence of cavity mirrors on the durations of very short pulses (≤ 100 fsec) still remains largely unexplained.
