Abstract
A stable cw mode-locked laser in the 1.06-μm region has many applications. So far, cw mode locking at this wavelength has been achieved with a Nd:YAG crystal, yielding 100-psec pulses. Though the threshold of Nd:glass is considerably higher because of its larger spectral bandwidth, the same bandwidth offers the potential of obtaining sub-picosecond pulses, in particular if colliding-pulse mode locking1 is incorporated into a ring cavity
