Gain and Gain Suppression in Semiconductor Lasers

Abstract

Gain is the most important factor in the understanding of semiconductor lasers. The wavelength dependence of gain suppression, which is a key factor for single-mode operation of a semiconductor laser, has not been well understood because previous theory1,2 included empirical parameters such as the dipole moment.
