Abstract

Stimulated Raman conversion in metal vapors was found to be an efficient process for shifting radiation from the UV to the visible1. Shifting the UV radiation of XeC1 lasers at 308 nm to 459 nm by using lead vapor as Raman medium is very attractive for underwater communication.
