Abstract

CO2 laser-induced desorption was investigated from multilayers of CH3F, CH3OH, CH3CN, CCl4, and C6H5CHO condensed on a Ge substrate at 77 K. The time-of-flight distributions of the neutral molecules, desorbed by excitation of internal vibrational modes were recorded and fitted to a Maxwell-type time distribution to determine temperatures. In the spectral region of IR absorption bands, a strong wavelength dependence of desorption yield and temperature was detected.
