Abstract
The present work introduces a new excitation circuit model for pulsed gas lasers (Fig. WII15-1). In series with the waveguide of a conventional circuit, we placed a resonant cavity with its fundamental frequency adjusted to absorb in the middle of the frequency spectrum generated by the discharging process. This transformed the original pulse into two pulses with half-widths lower than the original one (Fig. WII15-2). The first pulse now behaves as a preionization pulse and the second as an excitation pulse.
