Abstract

We demonstrate a new method for studying fluctuations in macroscopic coherences1 using a Stark tunable IR R(4,3,v3 = 0 →1) transition of 13CH3F by measuring radiator reorientation velocity changing kernels, wδm(δv), which describe the rate (per unit velocity) at which the radiator orientation M changes by an amount ΔM accompanied by a velocity change Δy. The dominant kernel is obtained as the shape of a two-pulse photon echo intensity vs Stark voltage curve at a fixed large echo time delay.
