Abstract

This study probes the basic dynamics and energy transfer mechanisms by which laser-stimulated surface reactions proceed. We photofragment surface molecules by exciting internally repulsive states and analyze the velocities of fragments ejected away from the surface. We present a UHV study of photofragmentation CH3Br physisorbed on LiF.1 The expected Chemical, electronic, and optical inertness of LiF was desired for simplicity. Also recent resulta In another labora- tory2 showed a completely unexpected and poorly understood molecular photodesorption.
