Abstract

In recent years stimulated Raman gain has received renewed attention due to its application to beam cleanup and related processes. In particular, a more complete picture of both the theoretical and experimental aspects of multinanosecond pulse length stimulated Raman gain in gases is emerging.1 Stimulated Raman gain in the transient regime, however, has received little attention in the laboratory and has only been treated at a fairly simple level theoretically.2 This work presents both theoretical and experimental results for transient Raman gain that go considerably farther than any previous work.
