Abstract
A new method is proposed for studying the optical properties of molecules in excited states. Compared to flash (or laser) photolysis, this method offers the advantages of a zero-base line detected signal, no laborious subtraction of transmission spectra, absolute determination of emission and/or excited state absorption cross sections, and the possibility of obtaining information concerning optical dispersion.
