Theory of wave-front replication in the Dirac bracket operator formalism

Abstract

We present the theory of wave-front replication in stimulated scattering in a new formalism which utilizes the Dirac bracket operator notation familiar from quantum mechanics. The formalism applies equally well to forward scattering [e.g., forward stimulated Raman scattering (SRS)] and backward scattering [e.g., stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) and backward SRS]. In the latter case the wave-front replication produces phase conjugation.
