Abstract

The relaxation dynamics of excited carriers in GaAs are of fundamental importance to both electronic and optical devices. Ultrashort optical pulses provide a means for studying these processes on a picosecond and femtosecond time scale.1-4 We describe the investigation of femtosecond absorption saturation dynamics in GaAs using pulses as short as ~35 fs generated by a colliding pulse mode-locked (CPM) dye laser.
