Abstract

Previously developed color center lasers are based on two types of material: (1) FA II and FB II centers in Na+- and Li+-doped KCI and RbCI crystals. These systems allow laser operation in the 2.2-3.3-μm range with output powers in the 10-100-mW range and combine excellent optical and thermal stability with simple production and handling properties.
