Abstract

During the past few years, the generation of ultrashort pulses has received increasing attention due to the large variety of phenomena occurring in the femtosecond time scale. Most of the research efforts have been so far concentrated in the visible region. However, several areas such as photochemistry or semiconductor physics would benefit from the availability of femtosecond sources in other parts of the frequency spectrum.
