Abstract

Recently, the observation of an optical Stark effect in bulk GaAs and multiple quantum wells (MGWs) has been reported.1 This effect manifests itself by an instantaneous (≪1-ps) blue shift in the energy band gap (and exciton resonance) due to the electric-field amplitude (or intensity) associated with the optical waves.
