Abstract
When Ce3+ and Na+ are codoped into the alkaline earth fluorides, many sharp lines in the low- temperature optical spectrum are observed in addition to the well-known peak due to the F− interstitial fluorine site characteristic of most trivalent rare earths. These lines are observed by high- resolution laser excitation spectroscopy using a frequency-doubled dye laser.
