Abstract
There is considerable interest in the dissociation dynamics of van der Waals molecular clusters following excitation by an IR photon.1 Two main classes of model have been used to describe this process. First, the intracluster vibrational relaxation (IVR) model assumes mat the photon is initially absorbed by a local mode within the cluster and that internal dynamics redistributes the excitation energy among other sites prior to dissociation.
