FREQUENCY CONVERSION OF A Kr EXCIMER LASER BY STIMULATED RAMAN SCATTERING IN H2

Abstract

Rare gas excimer lasers of Ar, Kr, and Xe are tunable coherent light sources in the vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) region. They produce intense emission at 126nm (Ar), 146nm (Kr), and 172nm (Xe). Although their wavelengthes can be tuned over 4-6nm, the tuning ranges are not wide enough to apply them to spectroscopy, photochemistry and others. Stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) is one of the most appropriate techniques for converting their wavelengthes with high efficiency.
