Abstract

Optical second-harmonic-generation (SHG) by reflection of incident laser beam at metal surfaces is recognized mostly from the contribution of the surface current stimulated in the immediate vicinity of the metal/dielectrie interfaces. After Rudnick and Stern had introduced the phenomenological parameters “a” and “b” which specify the normal and parallel components of the surface current(1), considerable works have been devoted to this field especially on the theoretical calculation and experimental determination of the parameter “a”, for which, is most sensitive to the details of the surface charge distribution(2–7).
