Abstract

Heavy-hole mass in GaAs quantum wire was found to be 0.027mo near zone center. Employing this, maximum excitonic refractive-index estimated was 17.4% of bulk value for 50Å×50Å cross-section. Field-induced change 30% larger than this is expected.
