Abstract
Excitonic nonlinearities play an important role in fundamental physics as well as in applied optoelectronics, for example in the development of fast switching devices. We report here investigations of the screening of the excitonic absorption by free carriers in a 3.4nm thick Ga0.47In0.53As / Al0.48In0.52As multiple-quantum-well (MQW) structure using picosecond pump and probe spectroscopy. We observe a, strong bleaching of the excitonic absorption and a blue shift of the self energy of the heavy-hole exciton as well as the light-hole exciton.
