Abstract
Many studies of shorter wavelength laser by recombination plasma method have been concentrated on hydrogenlike ions[l-3]. There is a possibility that the lithiumlike ions will oscillate with higher efficiency than hydrogenlike ions. Laser action has already been achieved on the 10.57 nm transition in lithiumlike Al ion and the 12.79 nm transition in lithiumlike Mg ion in laser-produced plasmas[4]. Population inversions on the 5g-4f and 4f-3d transitions of C IV have been observed in the recombination phase of a theta-pinch plasma[5]. The inversion in C IV is a good example to know how recombination lasing can be obtained in these lithium like ions.
