Abstract

The beat of two laser beams with different frequencies in plasma has attracted much attention because of its potential applications in laser ultrahigh energy acceleration, plasma heating and diagonostics. Here we present new results obtained recently on Langmuir-wave excitation, pump depletion and transverse nonuniformities in laser Beat-Wave Accelerator (BWA), as well as Beat-Wave Heating (BWH) of laser-fusion target.
