Abstract
There is considerable interest in the development of multiterawatt excimer lasers for applications of an extremely high intensity optical field to multiphoton processes and the XUV laser. A 4-TW peak power was obtained with a 1.5-J output energy in 390 fs from an electron beam pumped amplifier.1 More recently a new 10-Hz terawatt system using gated gain amplification has been developed.
