Abstract

In spite of the rapid development of nonlinear optical organic materials, little attention has been paid to the role that organometallic complexes and coordination compounds play in nonlinear optics. Recently, a very large off-resonant third-order optical nonlinearity, χ(x) of the order of 10−9 esu was reported for a transition metal substituted phthalocyanine.1
