Abstract

The modeling of nonlinearities in multiple quantum well (MQW) structures has been the object of detailed studies following both phenomenological approaches1 and first principle microscopic theories.2 A major result, which emerges from both approaches, is that for sufficiently small carrier density the exciton resonance exhibits a saturation behavior identical to that of a system of two-level atoms described by the Bloch equations.
