Transverse pattern dynamics in a rectangular laser cavity

Abstract

The spatial Fourier decomposition of the Maxwell-Bloch equations pioneered by Lugiato et al.1 for studies of transverse pattern dynamics in a laser is extended to larger cavity detunings where we find that time- dependent patterns of several types exist (as were found in earlier rate equation treatments by Suchkov et al.2 in addition to the time-independent spatial patterns reported in earlier work.1,2
