Abstract

Despite many attempts,1 frequency doubling in optical glass fibers is still an unexplained phenomenon. We address two fundamental properties of photoinduced second harmonic generation (SHG) in optical glass fibers: the modal evolution of the frequency doubled light and the tensor properties of the induced second-order nonlinearity.
