Broadband squeezing of light by pulse excitation

Abstract

There is a great interest in the generation of broadband squeezed states with a large noise reduction by a technically simple system, We report here on the first clear broadband (from about dc to about 70 MHz) observation of squeezed states generated by parametric amplification with pulse light excitation1) in a Ba2NaNb5O15 (BNN) crystal, where noncritical type I phase matching is attained.2) A schematic diagram of the experimental configuration is shown in Fig.1.
