Determination of nonresonant multiphoton ionization cross sections by varying the axial position of the laser beam waist

Abstract

Ion yield curves for nonresonant multiphoton ionization (MPI) were usually calculated and plotted against laser energy or peak laser intensity. As the laser intensity increased, the curve exhibited a bend due to the saturation effect. The MPI cross section could then be found from the onset of saturation or fittirig the experimental data to the theoretical curves.1,2
