Abstract
The phenomena and mechanism of the blowoff and absorption wave in the vapor of Ly-12 aluminum targets irradiated by a normal pulse Nd:glass laser beam of 60-100 J are investigated. The laser beam consists of a series of random spikes with ~2-μs duration and ~5-μs separation. It has been observed that the blowoff was in accordance with these spikes.1 The air surrounding the vapor was heated and partially absorbed.
