Abstract

Semiconductor microcrystallites are attracting the interest of many scientists. The energy bands of microcrystallites are known to shift toward higher energy with decreasing size by quantization, as shown by Efros and Efros.1 Several semiconductors such as CuCl and CdS have been studied extensively, but semiconductors with a larger Bohr radius have not yet been studied in-depth since they exhibit only vague shoulders of excitons in the absorption spectra. The modulation technique is applied to semiconductor microcrystallites, and the exciton peaks of CdSxSe1−x are clearly resolved.
