Abstract

The recent interest in various physical problems associated with phase sensitive quantum devices has revived the question of quantum phase and amplitude fluctuations. In the context of squeezed states and reduced quantum fluctuations, the Hermitian components a^1 and a^2 of the quantized electric field annihilation operator a^1 have been used to describe a phase sensitive decomposition of the light signal.
