Abstract

The redistribution of photons between two nonresonant beams which propagate in an atomic vapor has been experimentally studied by several groups. In the preceding experiments, the beams had the same polarization, and the redistribution was maximum when their frequency difference was of the order of Г (where Г-1 is the lifetime of the excited state of the atom).
