Abstract

Most of the success of semiconductor diode lasers originates from their intrinsic amplitude stability. Also, their spectral purity can be significantly improved using simple feedback schemes. This allows high resolution applications. We shall report on the results of a systematic investigation of different detection techniques and on their application to typical situations occuring in atomic and molecular spectroscopy.
